Dr. Martin Luther King

Dear Sylvan Family,

After last night's Board meeting, I went home to treat myself to some YouTube videos of Dr. Martin Luther King's speeches. Yesterday was Dr. King's birthday and it occurred to me that I can now both see and hear his speeches at any time. What a treat and an inspirational way to end the day! I never fail to learn something new while listening to his powerful messages.

Next Monday we will celebrate Dr. King's birthday by taking a holiday. I would like to encourage each of you to view the YouTube video below and then select some of his other speeches from the YouTube site. We allow access to YouTube to SUSD computers for just such purposes. If the current technology in your classroom allows, I also encourage you to share Dr. King's powerful messages with our older students. Friday would be a perfect day to do this.

If you would like to leave a comment on this site to share with the rest of the Sylvan Family your thoughts, ideas or strategies to celebrate Dr. King, please do so. I hope you all enjoy your three day weekend.

Sincerely, John Halverson

I loved hearing the speech again...the first time in a very long while! Thanks for making it so very easy to view!
